For a Marathi woman, 'Paithani' is  not just a sari. It's a heritage, a symbol of dignity and respect. The rich silk, beautiful colors and attractive peacock designs contribute a lot for their love for Paithani. The story of Marathi film ‘ Indrayani’ revolves around a 'Paithani' and a  young lady, Indrayani (age 30- 32) who stitches the sari - falls to earn some money and support her husband - Sujeet (age 37 yrs) who is a florist and loves her immensely. She lives in a small town and has a five years old son.

One day she gets a beautiful, costly 'Paithani' to fix a fall, which unfortunately gets stained in a strange situation. To avoid the unpleasant circumstances that will follow, she decides to search for the replica of that Paithani. It seems to be an impossible task but to protect her self-respect and reputation she gives it a try and leaves no stone unturned. She reaches to the place where the sari was woven and gets the information that there were four pieces of that design and all are sold.  The search leads her to four corners of Maharashtra where she meets the persons who bought those sarees and she realizes that,  just like the owners, every saree also has its own destiny. 

What she gets in this journey is a bundle of new experiences which reveal the dark and bright side of life. This journey changes her, improves her. It's a struggle of a simple lady which is as interesting as a jigsaw puzzle portraying various characters and the role of Destiny in their lives.  It's about 'the good' which still exists there. It’s about the spirit that makes one stand tall against all odds. It's about the quest and the possession; the dream and the achievement; the struggle and the solace. It's beautiful.
